Busy two months post op - All is well!

I haven't posted since before my surgery and I feel really slack! I have just been so caught up with the pre op anxiety and stress and now the recovery that I haven't had time to update my blog! As of yesterday I was two months post op, and I am so glad and happy to have made it this far, and I am thankful to all those who have helped me (especially my mum!) throughout my recovery! You all make everything that bit easier for me, and I really do appreciate it!
My surgery went extremely well, it took 6 and a half hours instead of the planned 5. There weren't many problems, but I was fused T4-L4 instead of to L3, as my doctor decided he wouldn't get the correction he wanted if he didn't fuse L4.
My recovery in hospital was a bit bumpy, and at first I was going to have to stay in hospital longer than the usual scoliosis stay of a week, but instead I went home a day early! At first in ICU I was doing okay, but once I was transferred to the adolescent ward the day after surgery I had several problems that night! I had oxygen saturation problems, a temperature, nausea, blood pressure problems and my wound oozed and bleed after being transferred from my ICU bed to my ward bed. Thank God I was so dosed up on morphine that I barely remember any of what happened, other than remembering having a really bad headache and stomach pains and having people rushing around trying to stick needles into me and take x-rays to figure out what was wrong. All the tests they did came back good so mum (who stayed in hospital with me the entire time!) and I got some solid sleep after 3am (I had been falling in and out of sleep for the whole ordeal).
The rest of my hospital stay was alright, I had problems with not wanting to eat as I wasn't hungry the first few days and I also wasn't sitting up and walking until about the fifth day! However once I was up and about showering myself, getting x-rays and walking around the ward I started feeling better and was soon released from hospital. A lot of the nurses I came across were so incredibly caring and went above and beyond what they had to do to help me so I am very thankful!
Coming home in the car was quite painful, and I couldn't wait to arrive home and get into bed and just have a nice nap! I have had some infections due to drips not coming out of me at the time they normally come out (my last drip was taken out on day 5 instead of day 2) and other problems most people come across in their recovery!
I have to say, even through all the pain and painkillers, I am so thankful that I was able to have the surgery as once the months go by, the pain I experienced pre op will hopefully go! I am happy to answer any questions, as I really want to provide help to others before and after their scoliosis surgery!
Sorry for the long blog, I felt I needed to catch up on a lot. Hopefully it all makes sense!
